Level I Atrium
For those of you who are wondering, the little light James took from the Paschal candle in the main sanctuary Easter Sunday safely made it to the children’s sanctuary! In the large atrium Level I and II children and catechists prepared two Paschal candles; those candles were lit from the one original light. Then, each child received their own light from one of the two candles. The light, the Risen Light spread. And, the Perfect Light will continue to spread.
We celebrate the feast of Easter not just for one day but for several weeks! Until Pentecost, our atria will be dressed in white to “remind us of the light!” As we move through the Easter celebration, we will go deeper into the Paschal mystery; i.e., we will talk about the empty tomb and wonder about the mystery of life (and death – remember those wheat seeds we planted four weeks ago?) Also, we will look at the sacrament of Baptism and the receiving of one’s light. The Eucharist and gestures of Epiclesis and Offering for the bread and wine will precede Pentecost. Before you know it, the atria will be dressed in red and we will be choosing our gift from the Holy Spirit!
We have a lot to do with what little time we have left before the summer break. It is our prayer everyone will be able to attend as many presentations as possible so they may come to fully rejoice in what they already know.
Level 2 Atrium
Continues it’s reflections on the True Vine.
Level 3 Atrium
Members of the Level 3 Atrium were in Church for the whole of the Easter Vigil. In the weeks prior to Easter they were reflecting on several of the readings from the Vigil. This reflection continues on Sunday as they think about what they experienced, what they heard, and what it all means.
Emmaus Road
Emmaus Road will begin a new book after Easter. We will read Jesus by Fr. James Martin SJ. We’ve read two other books by Fr. Martin, The Jesuit Guide to Almost Everything, and My Life with the Saints. Fr. Martin is an engaging writer and we look forward to a good time with his book. Here’s a brief description. By Your Side End of Life Vigil Training April 29 – May 27
The next By Your Side: End-of-Life Vigil Companion Training is scheduled to begin April 29 and lasts for five weeks. This class can be a great help to anyone who is helping to care for a person coming to the end of their life. At some point everyone of us will have to do this for someone we love.
Previous By Your Side classes were attended by Kris Hillary, April Bond, Marybeth Song, Jim Goltz, Fr. Bob & Tracy, Nancy Ohlson, Georgie McAdams, Bill Serafini, and Susan Stanley. They all got a lot out of it and found it tremendously helpful in caring for either close family or friends and acquaintances.
The cost for the class is $70.00 which includes all materials.
