Advent Proclamation  2013

Dear sisters and brothers, the glory of the Lord has shone upon us and shall be ever manifest among us until the day of Christ's return.

Through the rhythms of time and the change of seasons let us call to mind and live the mysteries of our salvation.

The center of this Year of Grace is the Paschal Triduum of the Lord - crucified, buried and risen - celebrated between sunset of Maundy Thursday April 17, and sunset of Easter Day April 20.

Every Sunday, Holy Church makes present that great and saving deed by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death.

From the Paschal Triduum there come forth and are reckoned the forty days of Lent, begun on Ash Wednesday the 5th of March and the fifty days of Easter completed on Pentecost the 8th of June

In the winter the Church gives witness to the glorious Nativity and Epiphany of Christ and exults in the blessed hope of the Lord Jesus' advent at the end of time.

Likewise the pilgrim Church proclaims Christ died, risen, and with us today in the mysteries of the Lord, in the feasts of the holy Mother of God, and of the apostles and saints, and in the commemoration of all the faithful departed.

To Christ who was, who is, and who is to come, Lord of time and history be endless praise, for ever and ever Amen.

Advent Event:  Sunday December 1  First Sunday of Advent

Following the 10:15 Liturgy

Advent Potluck, Advent Wreath Making, Christmas Cookie Making, & Just enjoying each other's company.

 Advent Potluck and Newcomers

Those who are new to the parish, occasions like the Advent Event are a wonderful opportunity for us to come to know you better and for you to get more acquainted with your fellow parishioners.  There is more time to spend with people than we normally have at the Sunday coffee hour.  Please come and participate.  You will have a very good time, and all of us would really like to welcome you and come to know you.

 Advent Wreath Making

One of the activities at this Sunday's Advent potluck, is the decoration of Advent Wreaths. If you have one from previous years, don't forget to bring it with you so you can freshen it up with greenery, new ribbon and candles. Also, if you have holly, rosemary, boxwood or any other greenery that would work well on an Advent Wreath, please bring clippings to share!

Christmas Cookie Making

Another activity at the Advent Event will be making Christmas cookies.  This is especially good for the children.  Evelyn, Marielle, and Chris Askew will lead this project.  The cookies will be saved and used as the refreshments along with hot cider at the late Christmas Eve service.

The Hillsides Christmas Toy Drive begin on the First Sunday of Advent, December 1.  This is one of our regular Mission Giving activities.  This year, Hillsides has given us a list of generic, normal, regular, whatever word you like, toys so that you don’t have to be an engineer from MIT or spend all your time watching MTV to figure out what the gifts are.  The Christmas tree and gift list will go up on the Sunday.  We collect the toys at the Children’s Christmas Eve Service.

Annual Giving for 2014 underway

With All Saints we begin our Annual Giving Pledge drive for 2014.  We ask parishioners and friends to make a pledge to support the parish financially for the year to come.  Annual Giving Pledges fund the operation of the Parish.   With a  parish this size it is imperative that everyone participate.  Everyone’s gift matters.  Please return your pledge cards as soon as you can.

Take God for your Spouse and Friend and walk with him continually and you will not sin, you will learn how to love, and the things you must do will work out prosperously for you.
